What does “Okay” Mean? Update On Us.

The other night Kory and I were on our way home from dinner. We were talking in the car and I asked him, “Does anybody ever ask you how you are doing?”. Kory thought about it and said, “Not really”. I then asked him, “Well how are you?”. His response, “I’m Okay. Whatever okay even means?".

The automatic response when somebody asks you how you are doing seems to always be “Im Okay”. Especially when you are struggling with grief or a hard time in your life.

What does “Okay” even mean? Okay means so many things. Okay means you are getting by. Okay may mean you are feeling hopeful for the future. Okay may mean you are having a bad day, but don’t really want to talk about it. Okay may even mean you are not okay. In reality, okay means so many different things.

It IS okay to just be okay. It IS also okay to not be okay. Think about it the next time somebody says to you they are “Okay”. Maybe they need somebody to talk to, a hug or even just somebody to tell them things will get better.

Update on Kory and Haylee:
These last couple of weeks have brought an unexpected extra wave of grief. We think back to a year ago and February/March were the months we found out we had our tiny little miracle growing inside of me. It is now a sadness that fills our hearts because we remember the excitement that came from that moment. Now we feel like we are back to the beginning of our fertility journey. The unknown. Will God bless us with another beautiful baby? Will it take us years to conceive again? Its terrifying. We are SO hopeful and truly believe that God will give us another miracle. But the questions of “when” and “how” linger in our heads. We just keep praying and ask you all for continued prayers for our family and for the future.

All Our Love,

Kory and Haylee
